Higher Education Lines of Credit Expand/Collapse

When you decide to pursue your education, we can help.

A Casera Higher Education Line of Credit is designed to assist members whose financial resources limit their ability to further their education. A line of credit is set up to cover your expenses relating to continuing education, such as tuition, books or equipment.

Payments are interest-only while you are enrolled in school and for a six-month period after you are no longer a student. Interest is calculated on the closing daily balance at prime rate +1% and charged to your account at the end of every month.

Casera Bursary Program Expand/Collapse

Supporting local students since 1972.

Bursaries of $750 each are awarded annually to graduating students from neighbourhood high schools. To qualify, these individuals will be entering either a post-secondary educational, professional, trade or vocational institution or be enrolling in an apprenticeship program. Bursaries are awarded on the basis of educational achievement, involvement in community and school activities and programs, and financial need.

High School Credit Unions Expand/Collapse

Learning about money.

If you are a student at Transcona Collegiate Institute or Dakota Collegiate Institute, you will want to join your school’s credit union. Titan Credit Union and Lancer Credit Union are offered as a credited course and are operated by students as a financial co-operative. Over the school year, you will be able to save money in a credit union account, learn about consumer issues and become proficient at money management. Casera supports the student-run credit unions through mentoring and ongoing presentations.
