COVID-19

November 30, 2020

Please be advised, a Casera Credit Union employee who works at our Plessis Road corporate office has tested positive for COVID-19.

Because the employee does not have direct contact with Casera members, the risk of exposure is considered low. The employee is currently isolating at home, and our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.

The Plessis Road branch was deep cleaned by professional cleaners over the weekend and remains open for business. As we have been from the beginning of this crisis, we remain committed to doing everything we can to keep our members and staff safe. We continue to follow government-recommended protocols in all our branches, such as safe distancing, handwashing, and wearing masks. Plastic shields are in use at member service wickets, reception counters, and financial service desks. We also disinfect workstations after each employee-member engagement.

During the pandemic, as an alternative to in-branch banking, members are encouraged to use online banking and ATMs as much as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Brent Thomas, Chief Executive Officer, at 204 958-6313.

In response to the Province of Manitoba raising the pandemic response system level to Red (Critical) in the Winnipeg metropolitan region, effective Monday, November 2, 2020, Casera Credit Union will be limiting the maximum number of members inside a branch to 5 at a time.

In-branch visits will be by appointment only. Controlled entrances will help us maintain the maximum number of members inside the branches. The number of members in ATM vestibules at one time continues to be 2.

At this time, we encourage our members to use online and mobile banking for everyday transactions.

Should you require an appointment, please call your neighbourhood branch:

1300 Plessis Road        (204) 958-6300
8-630 Kildare Avenue   (204) 958-6320
720 St. Anne’s Road     (204) 958-6600

We are making these changes to help keep our staff and members safe. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

IMPORTANT NOTICE — MANDATORY MASK WEARING

Effective Monday, September 28, 2020, Casera Credit Union will be enforcing mandatory mask-wearing for all employees, members, and other branch visitors.

This decision is in response to the Province of Manitoba raising the pandemic response system level to Restricted Orange in the Winnipeg metropolitan region.

At this time, it is essential to remind everyone that physical distancing, wearing a non-medical face mask, regularly washing and sanitizing your hands, not touching your face, and staying at home when you're sick all remain essential to managing and slowing the spread of COVID-19 in our communities.

At Casera, we're committed to health and safety.

At each of our branches, you'll find a broad range of safe service measures to keep our staff and members safe:

1. A maximum of 10 members inside a branch at one time. The number of members in our ATM vestibules at one time continues to be 2.

2. Hand-sanitizing stations are set up at branch entrances. Members are required to apply the sanitizer upon entry and are encouraged to do so on the way out.

3. Physical distancing floor decals and stickers are in place on the floor of each branch.

4. Plastic shields remain at all our member service wickets, reception counters, and financial service desks. All workstations are disinfected after each employee-member engagement.

Please note that during this government-directed period of restriction, Casera staff members are required to wear masks at all times, except those who work in an office.  As soon as these staff move away from their offices or have a visitor in their office, they are required to wear a mask.

5.  Our staff practices physical distancing; however, there may be occasional circumstances when close contact occurs briefly between staff members. Steps are taken to mitigate proximity to each other, and surfaces that have been mutually used are sanitized.

6. Members will be asked to pre-screen themselves before entering a branch. If you are experiencing symptoms such as cough, fever, difficulty breathing, etc. you should not enter. People in quarantine or self-isolation, or who have been in contact with a person who has the coronavirus, are also requested not to enter. As an alternative, members are encouraged to use online banking as much as possible.

Casera will continue reinforcing physical distancing and exercising safe service in response to Manitoba's proposed Phase Four economic recovery strategy, effective July 25, 2020.

COMMITTED TO HEALTH & SAFETY

While the Manitoba government has not yet mandated the wearing of face masks indoors, we are following the recommendations of public health officials. As a result, we strongly encourage members to wear face masks when doing business in any of our branches.

Entrances will be controlled to help us maintain a maximum of 10 members inside a branch. If the branch is at capacity, members may be asked to wait outside temporarily. The maximum number of members in the ATM vestibule at one time will continue to be 2.

Hand-sanitizer stations are set up at branch entrances, and members are required to apply the sanitizer upon entry and encouraged to do so on the way out.

Physical distancing floor decals and stickers are in place on the floor of each branch.

Plastic shields remain at all of our member facing areas.

All work stations are disinfected after each employee-member engagement.

Before entering a branch, members will be asked to pre-screen themselves by reading posted notices that list the coronavirus's known symptoms. Members experiencing symptoms such as cough, fever, difficulty breathing, etc. should not enter a Casera branch. People who are in quarantine or self-isolation, or who have been in contact with a person who has the coronavirus, are asked not to enter. As an alternative, members are encouraged to use online banking as much as possible.

MAINTAINING HEALTH & SAFETY

On May 17, 2020,  the Government extended Manitoba's State of Emergency another 30 days.  As a result, to maintain safety for our staff and members, we will continue to reinforce social distancing and exercise safe service in the branches.

Members will not require an appointment to visit their neighbourhood branch (unless their business is related to a loan application or wealth management consultation). However, our branches will continue to have controlled entrances. This will allow for appropriate screening and to help us maintain a maximum of 10 members inside a branch at one time. Members may also be asked to wait outside until a preceding member has cleared the entranceway.

Before being admitted to the branch, members will be asked health- and travel-related questions to ascertain their risk of COVID-19.

Hand-sanitizer stations will be set up at branch entrances, and members are required to apply the sanitizer upon entry and encouraged to do so on the way out.

Social distancing floor decals and stickers will be in place on the floor of each branch.

Plastic shields will remain at all our member service wickets and reception desks.

All work stations will be disinfected after each employee-member engagement.

We thank our members for their patience and understanding as we gradually and safely open our branches. Click for more information on Phase Two of the Manitoba Government's Pandemic and Economic Roadmap for Recovery.

Further to our last update on COVID-19 and following the recent announcements by the Manitoba government and the City of Winnipeg that the province and city are now declared to be in a state of emergency, we have moved to reinforce social distancing. This action is intended to ensure the safety of employees and members.
