COVID-19 | PHASE FOUR REOPENING

Casera will continue reinforcing physical distancing and exercising safe service in response to Manitoba's proposed Phase Four economic recovery strategy, effective July 25, 2020.

COMMITTED TO HEALTH & SAFETY

Entrances will be controlled to help us maintain a maximum of 10 members inside a branch. If the branch is at capacity, members may be asked to wait outside temporarily. The maximum number of members in the ATM vestibule at one time will continue to be 2.

Hand-sanitizer stations are set up at branch entrances, and members are required to apply the sanitizer upon entry and encouraged to do so on the way out.

Physical distancing floor decals and stickers are in place on the floor of each branch.

Plastic shields remain at all our member service wickets and reception desks.

All work stations are disinfected after each employee-member engagement.

Before entering a branch, members will be asked to pre-screen themselves by reading posted notices that list the coronavirus's known symptoms. Members experiencing symptoms such as cough, fever, difficulty breathing, etc. should not enter a Casera branch. People who are in quarantine or self-isolation, or who have been in contact with a person who has the coronavirus, are asked not to enter. As an alternative, members are encouraged to use online banking as much as possible.

Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA)

Casera Credit Union (Casera) is supporting our small business members that are impacted as a result of COVID-19 by providing access to Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) funds in cooperation with the Federal Government and Export Development Canada.

To qualify, Casera needs to be identified as your primary financial institution. This means that you use a Casera business operating account, opened on or before March 1, 2020, for day-to-day payments and/or cash management activities.

The CEBA provides a $40,000 loan for eligible small businesses and not-for-profit members. This federal program is designed to help cover operating costs for organizations experiencing temporary revenue reductions.

COVID-19 | PHASE THREE REOPENING

Casera has modified its delivery of financial services in response to Manitoba's Phase Three strategy to restore safe service, announced on June 11, 2020.

MAINTAINING HEALTH & SAFETY

Starting Monday, June 15, 2020, our branches will be open to walk-in member traffic. Members will not require an appointment to visit their neighbourhood branch unless their business is related to a loan application or wealth management consultation.

MAINTAINING HEALTH & SAFETY

On May 17, 2020,  the Government extended Manitoba's State of Emergency another 30 days.  As a result, to maintain safety for our staff and members, we will continue to reinforce social distancing and exercise safe service in the branches.

Members will not require an appointment to visit their neighbourhood branch (unless their business is related to a loan application or wealth management consultation). However, our branches will continue to have controlled entrances. This will allow for appropriate screening and to help us maintain a maximum of 10 members inside a branch at one time. Members may also be asked to wait outside until a preceding member has cleared the entranceway.

Before being admitted to the branch, members will be asked health- and travel-related questions to ascertain their risk of COVID-19.

Further to our last update on COVID-19 and following the recent announcements by the Manitoba government and the City of Winnipeg that the province and city are now declared to be in a state of emergency, we have moved to reinforce social distancing. This action is intended to ensure the safety of employees and members.

St. Anne's Branch Reopened & Safety Precautions Continued 

 

Casera is reopening the St. Anne's Road branch on Monday, May 4, in response to the Manitoba government's phased-in approach to easing restrictions on business operations. 

 

As a result, all three branches — 1300 Plessis Road, 8-630 Kildare Avenue East, and 720 St. Anne's Road — will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday to Friday (closed on Saturday).

 

Concerning the government's instructions for maintaining physical distancing throughout the first phase of economic and social restoration, Casera is continuing to minimize contact between members and our staff. In our branches, we are seeing members by-appointment-only and limiting the number of visitors to five at a time.

We are committed to social distancing. To maintain the levels of health and safety in the branches during the pandemic, we are minimizing contact between members and our staff we are implementing a by-appointment-only policy and limiting the number of members in the branch to five at a time.

Temporary Branch Closure

The branch at 720 St. Anne's Road remains temporarily closed to member traffic, but accessible by phone. The St. Anne's staff is still working and available to answer calls, offer advice, and provide assistance to members.

Loan & Mortgage Payment Deferral  

Casera can provide payment relief for up to six months to members with consumer loans, residential mortgages, or commercial loans. We encourage any of our members with financial worries to contact us to discuss their particular concerns. Please do not hesitate to talk to us. We are all in this together, and we are here to help.

The worldwide presence of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has created a sense of uncertainty while compelling all of us to take unprecedented steps to protect ourselves, our families, and our communities. Be assured that we have taken precautions to protect our staff and members and will continue providing essential financial services throughout the pandemic.

Ensuring Safety & Cleanliness

We have implemented our emergency preparedness plan, which ensures business continuity in the face of the pandemic.  It allows us to take responsive action to protect our staff, strengthen the ability to monitor the situation closely, and apply preventative measures. We have increased the sanitization of frequently used surfaces and encourage our staff and members to practice social distancing. Hand sanitizers are also available in each branch.

Our branches will be closed on Saturdays, beginning March 21, 2020. We are also constantly reviewing the need to reduce business hours in support of infection mitigation efforts and to protect our staff and members.

To help us do our jobs safely, we ask that you monitor your health. If you are experiencing symptoms such as cough, fever, difficulty breathing, if you are in quarantine or self-isolation, or have travelled in the last 14 days, please do not enter a Casera branch. Annual Meeting Postponed

In response to health officials who advised against holding public events, our Board of Directors has postponed Casera’s Annual General Meeting, which was scheduled for Tuesday, April 21, 2020. The meeting will be rescheduled later in 2020.
