High School Initiatives

Student support since 1972.

Bursaries of $750 each are awarded annually to graduating students from neighbourhood high schools. To qualify, these individuals will be entering either a post-secondary educational, professional, trade or vocational institution or be enrolling in an apprenticeship program. Bursaries are awarded based on academic achievement, community and school activities and programs, and financial needs.

Student-run credit unions provide financial education.

If you are a student at Dakota Collegiate Institute, you'll want to join your school's credit union. Lancer Credit Union is offered as a credited course and operated by students as a financial co-operative. Over the school year, you'll save money in a credit union account, learn about consumer issues and become proficient at money management. Casera supports Lancer Credit Union through mentoring and ongoing presentations.
